Rwandan Orphans Project, Kigali, Rwanda

The Rwandan Orphans Project (ROP) provide basic needs and education for about 200 of Rwanda’s most vulnerable and neglected children.

The children that the project helps include victims of the 1994 Genocide, children who have lost one or both parents to diseases like AIDS or malaria, and children who have witnessed a parent being killed from domestic violence.

These children, some as young as 5 years old, are found struggling to survive on the streets of Kigali, washing in sewers, begging on busy streets and often abusing drugs to help alleviate the pangs of hunger.

We have been involved with ROP since 2012 and in the early days, we supported them with funds for a second water tank, extras at Christmas-time, clothes for the children and basic first-aid supplies. For the last two years, we have provided funding to pay the salary of one of the teachers ...we believe education is so important!
